Some of you may have known that we were listed as a Finalist at the Kent Women in Business Awards this year, for Retailer of the Year no less! And just to be considered a finalist in that category felt like an achievement in itself to us. So it was on Thursday night that I headed over the the awards ceremony with fellow finalist and Bottle Bazaar artist, Kaye Sedgwick of OhhhKaye.
We were treated well from the outset - photo's on the red carpet on the way in, champagne on arrival (which I sadly had to miss due to driving duties) and an excellent meal. All the ladies on our table were up for awards with their businesses too and what a crazy mix we were, a chilli grower, a sheep farmer, a podiatrist, a social media expert, a travel expert, a financial adviser, a bespoke illustrator (that's Kaye) and a wine expert (that's me!)
I'm torn on my views on women only awards but i have to say having now been to one I was blown away by how friendly and supportive the other women were. Other awards I've attended were nothing like this. I'd previously met a few people there briefly before but when the names were read out for Retailer of the Year I was suprised by the applause I got for Bottle Bazaar and when they annouced we'd been awarded Runner-Up, I was really couldn't believe it - what an amazing supportive bunch us women can be! So I'd like to give a big thank you to all the lovely ladies who cheered for us, it was most unexpected and really touching!

All in all it was a fantastic evening in recognition of lots inspiring businesses and ladies. I'm so proud of what we've achieved in the last 18 months and it was great to know the judges thought we were doing alright too! Here's the 2016 KWIB awards, I for one can't wait!
