Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
France, Champagne
In the north of France, not far from Paris. All Champagne has to come from the Champagne region. If it comes from somewhere else, it just isn’t Champagne. Full stop.
Non Vintage – blending wine from different years to maintain the ‘house’ style and consistent quality.
Georges Lacombe isn’t one of the big Champagne Houses. It’s more of a Boutique than a Hypermarket, and that’s why we love it so much. The family who own and run the House really care, and it shows. It’s not about selling millions of bottles, it’s about making sure each wine is something the family can be proud of.
The blend of grapes can tell you plenty about Champagne. Pinot Meunier gives a wine fruitiness, Chardonnay brings elegance and Pinot Noir adds the backbone and strength. Our Brut NV (Brut means dry) is a blend of 35% Pinot Meunier, 35% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay; a fairly equal blend resulting in a well balanced wine. The resulting elegance and finesse is unmistakable.
We realise most of you won’t have this with food – you’ll want to spray it over you friends, smash it against the side of boats or perhaps drink it on its own. If you do want to have some food with it though, we’d recommend canapés (try vegetable tempura!), or if you’re really pushing the boat out, lobster would be amazing.
